Monarch Butterflies
Known for their bright orange and black wings, the Monarch butterfly steals the show during the warm months.
Did you know that according to Nature, these amazing insects can travel anywhere from 1,200 to 2,800 miles during their annual migration?
Living up in New England, we get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies during the spring, summer, and fall months before they make their journey south.
If it is butterfly season where you live, consider pairing these printables with a butterfly or insect hunt.

The inspiration for this next butterfly coloring sheet comes from the spring blooming wild flowers. Are daisies not the sweetest flower you have ever seen?
I might be bias because daisies are my all time favorite flower, but they are beautiful!Planting even a small patch of wildflowers is a wonderful way to provide your local butterflies with food and shelter.
Let your kids draw their own butterfly in the white background to go along with the different flower designs.
Enjoy coloring the flowers using different colors. Base the colors off the flowers you spot outside or create your own unique combinations.
Color and Write
Young children love learning about butterflies. This coloring sheet was created for beginner readers and children who are practicing their letters.
I try to include at least one of these types of printables with each set of coloring pages.
As your child colors the cute butterfly, they can practice writing the word butterfly below the image.
Instead of writing the entire word, they can practice writing one letter. B for butterfly is a popular choice.
Fun Fact: did you know milkweed is the host plant for Monarch butterflies? To help protect Monarchs people plant native species of milkweed.
Learn how to grow your own milkweed and select flowers that attract butterflies.
Creating a pollinator garden is a wonderful way to attract these beautiful insects to your area!
How to Use these Printables
Printable coloring sheets are a great way for kids to practice fine motor skills.
Different art supplies including crayons, watercolor paints, and markers can be used to color in these butterfly pictures.
Your kids can even practice scissors skills by cutting out the different designs after they color them in.
Cut out butterflies and flowers can be glued down to create a unique butterfly garden collage. A fun way to get older children excited to learn about butterflies.
