Butterfly Coloring Sheets
Basic designs featuring large images of butterflies. Color them in using a variety of art supplies including crayons, markers, colored pencils, or even watercolor paint!
Each page includes the word butterfly written in outline form that you can color in. A fun activity for little ones who are practicing their letters.
On the next sheet, you can color in both of the cute little butterflies. These remind me of the small butterflies you find fluttering about in the garden.
Color each on using the same colors, or make them each unique! You can even draw a few flowers in the background to go with the beautiful butterflies.
If you are looking to color one large butterfly, the next sheet is for you! A huge butterfly with large wings fills the page. It would be fun to color both sides with the same pattern of colors.
You can even use this sheet as a fun symmetry printable with kids!
Once decorated, you can even cut out the butterfly and hang it up. Pair it with a few more of these coloring pages for some handmade butterfly decorations.
The next sheet is one of my favorites. I love how it has two similar butterflies, but different butterflies. One large and one small, young children in preschool can point out the similarities and differences between the two designs.
Older kids will enjoy the challenge of coloring in all of the small little spaces found within the butterfly's wings.

A fun alternative to markers, is to let young kids color in this sheet using water color paint. Instead of filling in all of the individual spaces, they can paint each wing a different color.
Flying through the air, the next coloring sheet features one large butterfly that is flying. Add a flower in the bottom left hand corner for the butterfly to land on!
I love the basic design of this butterfly. Once you color in the page, you can even cut out the butterfly design.
Use orange and black to make this butterfly look like a monarch butterfly. Or get creative and make up your own unique species!
Fun Fact: butterflies are classified as insects because their body is made up of 3 main parts and they have 6 legs!
You can find them in open fields, flower gardens, and just about anywhere. A fun activity to go along with these sheets is to go on a butterfly hunt to observe them in real life.
Perfect for adults and older children, the next sheet features four very small butterflies. Each one has small spaces that you can color in. Fine point markers or even colored pencils are great mediums to use to color in this sheet!
