You can introduce these worksheets once your child is ready to start practicing cutting using scissors. I like starting out with blunt tip kid scissors. Of course, adults supervision is required when little ones are using scissors.
Skills to Practice
- Fine motor skills
- Hand-Eye Coordination
- Cutting Skills
- Pinching and Grasping
- Ordering and Sequencing
- Symmetry
Sometimes the simplest activities are the best ways to practice a variety of skills. Cutting and pasting is a great way for little learners to build fine motor skills.
Learning how to manipulate items using their hands helps little ones develop finger control and hand-eye coordination (source).
Using a glue stick, squeezing a bottle of liquid glue, and picking up small pieces of paper are all ways for preschool, kindergarten, and elementary aged kids to strengthen hand muscles.
As an adult we find these task easy, but for young children they take a great deal of concentration and effort.
Materials
- Plain Printer Paper
- Safety Scissors
- Printer
- Glue Sticks or Liquid Glue
- Coloring Supplies
If your child is just starting to use scissors, they may have a hard time. Learning a new skill takes a lot of practice.
I find these scissors to work well and be comfortable enough for little hands. Sometimes you have to try out a few different types before you find a pair that your kid enjoys using.
Tip
Don't hesitate to take a break and come back to the task at a later time if your child is getting frustrated. Using scissors and figuring out how to hold paper properly takes a lot of work!
Downloadable Worksheets
Each worksheet has dashed lines that your child can cut along. The rectangular shapes are easier for kids to cut out. Your child can color, cut out, then paste the missing half of the insect to complete the picture.
Additional Activities
Check out these additional free printables that your kids can use for cut and paste activities. Some are true cut and paste worksheets while others are coloring pages. Little ones can have fun coloring them first, then cutting them out.
To paste, use glue to stick them onto different types of paper including cardstock, construction paper or even recycled cardboard.
Your kids can even have fun making their own collages! They will love that they get to be creative while coming up with their own unique pieces of art!
Great as independent activities or as a group craft project with a small group of kids.

I have spent over an hour trying to find the button to print all sorts of free papers and can not find them. I don't think I will come back to this website. It is not user friendly.
