As a backyard chicken owner to a flock of laying hens, I tried to make cheerful chicken designs. If you keep chickens, you know how much joy these animals can bring!
Baby Chicks
Is there anything cuter than sweet baby chicks? Adults and kids of all ages will love coloring in these pages!
As your kids color, they can count the little baby chicks. Spring is a wonderful time of year to learn about baby animals with your kids, but these sheets are cute to color in all year long.
In nature, a mother hen will raise her chicks and teach them what is safe to eat. Without a mother, baby chicks are often raised in a brooder until they are old enough to go out into the coop.
Young children can practice writing the word chick on the lines or any letter of the alphabet! A fun way to practice fine motor skills.
Chickens
Realistic coloring pages featuring chickens. If you have a flock of chickens you can color in these pages to resemble your own flock!
Chickens breeds come in a wide range of colors including red, brown, black, white, and even grayish purple. Many have a mix of different colored feathers and some even have spots or bars.
Some chickens free range which means they are let out of the coop and are able to walk around a yard or farm. Others have a run attached to their coop where they can walk around and scratch the Earth.
I love that this free chicken coloring page has a bright sun along with some grass. Chickens love scratching in the grass to look for bugs and insects to eat!
On the next printable, your kids can color in the chicken along with the word chicken written in outline form. On the lines, young children can write the word chicken or capital and lowercase letter c.
Roosters
Compared to hens, roosters often have long feathers and are larger. If your raise backyard chickens, you may only have a flock of laying hens.
You can color the images of the roosters to resemble a rooster you have seen in real life. Crayons, markers, colored pencils, or even water color paints can be used to color in these sheets!
Perfect for young children who are learning their letters, they can color in the word rooster written on this page. Then the word rooster or capital and lowercase letter r can be written in the line.
I Love Chickens

It would be fun to color in any of these pages if you are raising your own backyard flock. Or if you have recently visited a local farm.
