From recognizing all 26 letters of the alphabet to practicing beginning letter sounds, there are so many different skills to practice using these printables.
As your child colors then are practicing fine motor skills. You can even let them trace each letter using their finger to practice pre-writing skills!
Assemble the printables into your own alphabet book, then let your child practice reading all the names of the animals.
How to Use
- Learn about each letter of the alphabet each week
- As you talk about the animal on the worksheet, ask your child what else starts with that letter
- Learn more about the animal on the printable! Books are a wonderful resource.
Why You will Love These Printables
There are so many different ways to use these alphabet coloring pages. You can divide the set and focus on one letter per week. Or use the entire coloring book as a way to review each letter of the alphabet.
On each coloring page, you can find a common animal. As your child is learning the letters of the alphabet and letter sounds, it's important to make a connection between the new information and something that they already know.
Common animals include Fox, snails, and worms! It would be fun to come up with a list of other animals that also start with each letter.
Animal Alphabet
Each coloring page has two letters. You can leave them together, or use a paper cutter to cut the printable in half. I designed three different covers that you can access when you get access to the downloadable PDF version of the coloring pages at the bottom of the post!
A is for Ant and B is for Bee
C is for Chipmunk, D is for Duck, E is for Eagle, and F is for Fox
G is for Grasshopper, H is for Hummingbird, I is for Inchworm, and J is for Jay
K is for Katydid, L is for Ladybug, M is for Mouse, and N is for Newt
O is for Owl, P is for Porcupine, Q is for Quail, and R is for Raccoon
S is for Snail, T is for Turtle, U is for Urchin, and V is for Vulture
W is for Worm, X is for Xuthus Swallowtail, Y is for Yellow Finch and Z is for Zone-Tailed Hawk
Common Animals
I really wanted this animal alphabet set to include common animals that your child may see in real life. That way when you are exploring nature together, you can identify the different animals you see!
Additional Tips
- After printing, cut out each letter then staple the pages to make a book.
- Create a mini alphabet coloring book by adjusting your printer settings. Instead of printing two letters per page, print four!
- Instead of a book, cut out each letter then hang them up to make your own alphabet decor.
Your child can color each animal, name of the animal, along with the capital and lowercase letters on each printable.
Then you can staple all the pages together along with the cover page (I created 3 different ones for you to pick from!) to create your own animal alphabet book!
As you are practicing letter sounds, you can read the book together to practice each of the 26 letters of the alphabet.
