I love how this game is great for young children in preschool and kindergarten. Young kids can describe the dinosaurs and plants that they see if they do not yet know the name of each object on the board.
The set includes eight cards which are perfect for a small group setting. If you are playing with more than eight kids, children can work in pairs. Kids can even pick out the calling cards and describe the image on the card!
Skills to Practice
- Colors, Shapes, Patterns, and Textures
- Communication
- Dinosaur Identification
- Fine Motor Skills
- Listening and Following Directions
- Plant Identification
- Making Observations
- Team Work
Children can play this game before or after they know different dinosaurs and plants. This game is a great way to introduce the topic, but can also be used to reinforce what kids already know.

Games also allow kids to practice communication, working together, and following directions.
Each time they pick up a bingo marker or point to an image on their board, they are practicing fine motor skills.
As they play they will use all of these skills in a fun and interactive way!
Kids can observe and describe the images on their game board. Along with the formal name, kids can talk about the different colors, textures, and shapes they see within each image.
Materials
- Set of printed bingo cards and calling cards
- Heavy weight paper
- Color Printer
- Bingo Markers - I love these mini dinosaur figurines!
- Scissors
- Small Container - to hold the calling cards
- Optional: a laminator
Helpful Tip: If laminating, you can print off the bingo boards and calling cards onto plain printer paper. Then cut out the calling cards. Once cut, you can run all the pages through the laminator.
Directions
- Pass out one bingo card per player
- Shuffle the calling cards
- Decide on the winning pattern
- Pick out 1 calling card then describe the image on the card
- Players mark off that image on their board using a bingo marker
- Continue steps 4 and 5 until a player has the winning pattern.
- Player yells "BINGO" once they have a winning pattern.
Winning Patterns Include:
- Three in a row across, up and down, or diagonally
- Around the perimeter
- An X shape
- Black Out (every space is marked off)
Make sure to decide on the winning pattern before beginning the game. With very young kids, it is helpful to show them what the pattern looks like before starting.
Dinosaurs and Plants
There are many different dinosaurs, so I picked eight common dinosaurs that are easy to recognize. It would be fun to pair this activity with a great children's book about dinosaurs. This book about dinosaurs is filled with images and facts!
- Ankylosaurus
- Apatosaurus
- Parasaurolophus
- Spinosaurus
- Stegosaurus
- Triceratops
- Tyrannosaurus
- Velociraptor
Along with common dinosaurs, the bingo game includes five different plants that many dinosaurs ate as food.
- Conifer Tree
- Fern
- Ginkgo Leaf
- Pine Needles
- Moss
Kids can also identify a stegosaurus fossil and dinosaur egg while playing the bingo game.
